Trinity Health Oakland is always in need of caring people who can volunteer to help in various areas of the hospital. Each volunteer is an integral part of our healthcare team who freely gives of their time, talent, and resources to help Trinity Health Oakland carry out its mission and core values of service to the community.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old at the time of applying.
Volunteer Opportunities
- Admitting/Radiology
- Ambulatory Surgical Center
- Cancer Resource/Infusion Center
- Cath Lab
- Cuddler Program - Adults only (21 years and older), must be a non-smoker. Special training required.
- Endoscopy
- Greeters - Four locations are available, including South Tower Lobby, Ambulatory Surgical Center Lobby, Woodward Professional Building Lobby and the Medical Office Lobby.
- Hospitality Cart
- Music - Using your own instrument and playing in the South Tower Lobby and/or other requested areas.
- No One Dies Alone (NODA) Program - Adults only. Special training required.
- Office Support
- Pre/Post Recovery Area
- Spiritual Care Department (Ministers of Care and Eucharistic Ministers)
- Surgical Lounge
- Trauma Cart
Key Requirements
There are key requirements that each person must meet, in order to volunteer at Trinity Health Oakland hospital. These requirements are in place for your benefit, as well as for the benefit of our patients, visitors and staff. Each requirement must be met before your first day of volunteering.
Application and Required Paperwork - All required paperwork must be completed in full before submitting it in its entirety.
Expectations - Volunteers must commit to two to four hours a week, for a minimum of a full season. (Example of a season: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer.)
Interview - All volunteer applicants will speak to a Volunteer Membership Onboarding Specialist once their completed application has been submitted. Then, the Onboarding Specialist will assign an orientation date to the applicant and discuss next steps.
Background Check - All volunteers will be subject to a criminal background check.
Health Screening - A TB blood test is required to volunteer, along with a record of up-to-date immunizations and vaccines.
Onboarding - Student Volunteer Applications are only accepted twice a year (Summer and Fall Seasons).
- Student Volunteers (ages 18-21 years old)
- Fall Student Onboarding - Completed applications must be received no later than September 26.
- Summer Student Onboarding - Completed applications must be received no later than May 1.
- Adult/Cuddler Volunteers (ages 21+) - Applications accepted throughout the entire year.
Training/Orientation - New volunteers are required to attend and complete a scheduled Orientation (scheduled during Onboarding Discussion with the Onboarding Specialist).
