Why I chose this program/location for my training

I am originally from western Michigan and was looking for a community-based program that aligned with my future and professional interests. Mercy Health's OB/GYN program is filled with individuals who are caring and supportive. The camaraderie between residents and attendings truly makes this program a family. It provides an optimal learning environment where residents can thrive personally and professionally. It was an easy decision for me, and I am beyond happy to be a part of this program.

Hobbies/interests outside of work

I enjoy anything outdoors including hiking, running, and anything on the water (especially fishing). I love to try new restaurants and breweries, and spending time with family and friends!

Why I chose this program/location for my training

When I was considering programs, I wanted to be at a place that values what each individual has to offer and supports them to become the people they were made to be and do what is in their heart to do for the world! I wanted to be in a place with a culture that values community, autonomy, respect, collaboration, and learning. While auditioning, I found that Mercy fits! I really value my time as a learner here and the relationships I have started to build and look forward to the growth ahead.

Why I chose this program/location for my training

I came to this hospital as a family medicine resident and found a passion for womens health and obstetric care. The attendings and residents were always so supportive of my education and this program affords residents a robust, well rounded education in obstetric and surgical care. As far as location, you can’t beat West Michigan summers!

Hobbies/interests outside of work

I love the outdoors whether at the beach, kayaking, running, hiking or biking. I also spend my time with my husband and our two dogs. I also enjoy reading books and sharing them with friends.

The camaraderie among residents and attendings at Mercy Health is what first assured me that I will thrive in this program. The benefit of working in this community-based program is that I can make a lasting impact in patients’ lives while working alongside colleagues who are like family.

I am excited to spend summers by the lake and exploring beautiful Western Michigan!
