Derrick Barr, DO

Chief Resident

Dr. Barr was born in Ames, Iowa and raised in Minnesota. He received a biochemistry degree at the University of St. Thomas and his medical degree from Midwestern University CCOM. His interests outside of the hospital are outdoor activities, home improvement projects, knife-making, and cooking.

Hani lssawi, MD

Dr. lssawi is from Flint, Michigan. He pursued his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Michigan-Flint, a one-year chaplaincy program in Dallas, Texas at Qalam Institute, and graduated from medical school at Windsor University School of Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys whipping up some good food in the kitchen and barbecuing, as well as spending time with his family, watching football, and working out.

Odai El-Samawi, MD

Dr. El-Samawi was raised in Troy, Michigan. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and pursued a Master of Science in IT Management at Oakland University. After deciding to switch careers, he left corporate management and went on to earn his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. In his spare time Odai enjoys partaking in mixed martial arts, traveling, hiking, and indulging in ethnic cuisines.

Daniel Parks, DO

Dr. Parks was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he completed his undergraduate and medical education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Northeastern State University and medical degree at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his preliminary year in Pediatrics. Most of his free time is spent with his wife and three daughters, but he also enjoys hiking, gardening, woodworking, and jiujitsu.

Bilal Turfe, MD

Dr. Turfe is from West Bloomfield, Michigan where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Michigan. He went on and earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. In his spare time, Bilal enjoys spending time with family, gardening, playing sports, watching shows, and traveling.

Tess Vindischman, DO

Dr. Vindischman is a life-long Michigander from Ortonville. She completed all of her education in-state, earning a Bachelor of Science in Physiology at Michigan State, Master’s in Medical Sciences at Wayne State, and medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. In her free time, she continues to pursue her equestrian goals, riding and training at her family's local horse farm. She also enjoys spending quality time cooking with her husband and adventuring with their two dogs.

Kamran Haq, MD

Dr. Haq is a proud Michigan native, born and raised in southeast (Romulus) Michigan. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biological science at The University of Michigan at the Dearborn campus and pursued a Master's in Basic Medical Science from Wayne State University. He went on to earn his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys playing open-world video games on his PS5, exploring Michigan's local state parks, and spending time with his family and friends.

Farzad Razi, MD

Dr. Razi was born in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He received his undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College and his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. In his free time, Farzad enjoys traveling, working out, gaming, and doing escape rooms.

Reem Yassine, DO

Dr. Yassine grew up in Northville, Michigan. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Michigan University and medical degree at Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, traveling, and reading.

Pedram Keshavarz, MD

Dr. Keshavarz was born and raised in Iran. He completed his medical degree at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and later joined UCLA’s Abdominal Imaging & Cross-Sectional Interventional Radiology Group as a Postdoctoral Fellow. His research focuses on cancer imaging and interventional oncology. In his free time, he is a passionate horse rider who also enjoys biking and exploring new restaurants.

V. Morgan Leadbetter, DO

Dr. Leadbetter grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Albion College. She obtained her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and her MBA from Wayne State University. In her free time, she likes to read, crochet, golf, and spend time with her family and friends.

David Rawls, MD

Dr. Rawls was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. He attended Central Michigan University, where he obtained his undergraduate degree. He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. In his free time, he enjoys watching Kawhi Leonard compete in basketball for the LA Clippers and playing all types of video games.

Taha Bhatti, MD

Transitional Year at THO-WSU – Categorical Diagnostic Radiology

Dr. Bhatti was raised in Manchester, United Kingdom, and completed his medical degree at the University of Manchester. Before moving to Michigan, he worked as a foundation doctor in the United Kingdom. Outside the hospital, he enjoys weightlifting, reading philosophy, playing video games, and discovering new coffee shops.

Marisa Patel, DO

Transitional Year at THO-WSU – Categorical Diagnostic Radiology 

Dr. Patel was born and raised in Rochester Hills, MI. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Oakland University and medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After work, she unwinds with her favorite TV shows or video games and organizes to reset for the next day. She enjoys exploring creative outlets like dancing, doing her nails, and playing the flute.

Juwan Taylor, MD

Dr. Taylor was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology at Eastern Michigan University before earning his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, cycling, and playing video games.
